PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Nordic Heritage Museum has been a defining feature of the Ballard neighborhood since 1980, and in May 2018, their brand-new building opened to the public. Our top priority was to ensure not only visitor comfort, but also a precisely controlled environment for artifact preservation. To achieve this, CMS provided Multistack 4-pipe air to water heat pumps, which can simultaneously provide hot and cold water by using either the ambient coil and fans or by transferring the heat internally. This allows for precise, even temperature control throughout the various spaces. Innovent aluminum fixed plate heat exchangers recover energy from the outgoing air and transfer it to incoming outside air to add another layer of energy efficiency. Lastly, Haakon custom air handling units provide the reliability and performance required to keep the galleries, storage, and staging within tight temperature, filtration, and humidity requirements to help preserve history for future generations.
