PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fred Hutch’s 15-acre campus in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle anchors the city’s biotech and research community. Their new facility at 1100 Eastlake was a previously-developed, spec office/lab building that Fred Hutch completely renovated to meet their design standards, sustainability goals, and research laboratory requirements. The project had an extremely tight schedule, going from purchase to fully occupied in 18 months. This 150,000 square foot building includes two large Haakon penthouse air handling units, including a heat recovery exhaust unit with laboratory exhaust fans and a boiler plant. The supply air handling units incorporate AcoustiFLO integrally-attenuated fans to meet stringent sound and energy efficiency requirements. York variable-speed air-cooled chillers with industry-leading energy efficiency provide cooling for this critical facility.
